THE PAYMENT OF WAGES ACT,1936 (MAHARASHTRA)

Applicability-:

1) Every person employed in any factory , to persons employed upon any railway or through sub-contractor in a railway and a person employed in an industrial or other establishment.

2) The state govt. may by Notification extend the provisions to any class of person employed in an any establishment or class of establishment.

 

Eligibility-:  

Evey person who is employed in any of the above mentioned establishment an who is drawing less than RS-24000/- PM 

 

Benefits : The Act Prescribe For 

1) The Regular an timely payment of wages (on the before 7th day of or 10th day after last day of the wages period in respect of which the wages are payable)

2) Preventing unauthorized deductions being made from wages and arbitrary fines.

3)  Wages to be paid in current coin or currency notes or by cheque or by crediting th wages in the bank account of the employees.

Provided tht the appropriate Govt. may , by notification in the official Gazzette , specify the industrial or other establishment , the employer of which shall pay to every person employed in such industrial or other establishment , the wages only by cheque or by crediting the wages in his bank account.

 

Penal Provisions-:

Penalties are from RS-1500-7500,Repeat Offences attract 1 to 6 month of imprisonment and fine from RS-2250-3750.

Delayed wage payments attract penalty of RS-750 per day of delays.
